United Nations, why are you Silent?

A slave trade in Deportees/Prisoners is happening in broad daylight, without their consent. The impunity that Israel enjoyed and continues to in the Middle East is being marketed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to Latin America.

Israel has been able to remain above international law with the support of the United States for its criminal use of its veto power in the Security Council. So dark is the US Democracy that its representatives were proud to veto global calls for any ceasefire, knowing very well each time a veto is called out the impunity of Israel on the ground increases drastically and ensures starvation and death for lack of critical food and medicine along with other war crimes and acts against humanity being carried out with ease and no accountability.

It is this sense of acting with impunity that the President of US Donald Trump is now marketing to Latin America through social media tweets from his oval office.

The President of US is doing anything and everything other than the role stipulated for the President of US under Constitution of United States. This term of President Donald Trump from January 2025 to April 2025 has seen him sign over 130 executive orders (1) as against the 220 Presidential Executive Orders of his previous term between January 2017 - January 2021, a clear indication that he seems to consider Presidential Executive Orders to be the one singular comprehensive tool to run the government of the United States. There were 109 working days between Jan 2025 - 24th April making for more than one Executive Order in a day being completed or in the process of completion.

Online data shows each executive order running into 2-7 pages in PDF format of approximately a thousand words. Some of these executive orders have specifically focused on reversing or terminating certain executive orders passed by earlier President Joe Biden. The speed at which these Executive Orders have been prepared seems to indicate AI tools may have been used for identifying issues and making a draft note on connecting links.

The use of AI in governance was the test case planned as part of stated goal of reducing or removing waste, fraud and abuse. This would mean giving the AI tools certain prompts about programs linked to D.E.I (Diversity Equity and Inclusiveness) and filtering for the same to identify such programs and projects and later disrupting these selected services. This explains the hurried and seemingly unplanned attacks on most programs and projects under Federal services.

While this is questionable for any kind of service, such a shift would be far more problematic and unjust when it is in the area of crime or terror control, for the scope for justice could be easily eroded with fear and disinformation or restriction of information in the name of security.

The United States is a clear example of the scale of abuse possible when AI tools play a greater role in governance thereby making way for greater control and centralisation of power. When considering the number of Presidential Executive Orders to be implemented and need for more power for the President to carry out these orders, the use Alien Enemies Act 1798, would be the apt suggestion from AI tools that are competing to provide synthesised results from reviewed data or literature based on prompts.

The fact there isn’t a war like situation would not be considered by AI as it is not receptive to live dynamic synthesis of this scale, something that a human mind will decide in an instant.

Crime control is and will be a growing industry, the role of private agencies, restricted by the earlier US government is seen in a positive light by the Trump administration. This stance is made clear by the sudden criminal or terror act of even seizing individuals with a legal right to be in US and then deporting them to another country (not even their home country), the same is not justifiable under any law.

For:

a)  Crime is controlled by domestic law and at times these laws merges with international law and may be applicable together. But by and large domestic law address issues related to crime and terror and is applicable within the borders of the country.

b)  Under no US domestic law or international law can prisoners or ordinary persons be seized from the roads and be transported to another country and to not the home country of the migrant or others arrested.

c) To create a media narrative there is a blatant misuse of terms, a conscious attempt not to clarify concepts; being done by the President of United States, White House Spokespersons and members of the Cabinet. The ease with which President Donald Trump links being on Parole to being criminals and subsequently generalises the same as “US streets are filled with criminals”. The reality being that the word ‘Parolee’ is used for any person who permitted by the US government to enter the country legally under its immigration laws to process his/her papers for legal stay in US. It has nothing to do with any crime, these individuals who are on parole are not criminals wanted for any crime. It is this manipulated play of words that Mr. Trump and his administration is using to influence people who have doubts about the legality of Trumps’ actions.

d)  UN has facilitated process to transfer prisoners from one country to another country which is the home country of the person arrested to serve one’s sentence. This was done to facilitate the prisoner’s re-integration into society and not an opportunity to punish or torture the prisoner. But there is no provision to trade any human being as a commodity to another third county.

e)  The language used by both the President of United States and the President of El Salvador indicate there is trade arrangement, for there is a financial transfer 6 million to El Salvador to house the US deported persons and both leaders focus on trade and monetary transactions. Besides, the President of El Salvador has made it clear he does not believe in treating prisoners like human beings. They are held in overcrowded cells, lit 24x 7, with limited personal space and no privacy for any human action. Torture is considered a tool for behaviour modification. The crime control method of President of El Salvador has been extensively covered by the media.

f)   Recently the President of El Salvador was on media taunting the President of Venezuela to look at the positive aspects of prisoner swap and stated it would be beneficial to both countries. The President of Venezuela refused to be baited.

g)  The question to the United Nations is, since when it is fine for humans to be traded across countries as per the will and fancy of the country leaders going against both domestic and international law. These leaders talk about tough approach to crime control but the prisoner’s rights or human rights is an irrelevant reality to them.

h)   If there is an arrangement between US and El Salvador for housing the deportees, then the agreement has been turned null and void, for the President of EL Salvador after receiving money is now planning to swap prisoners with Venezuela. The President of El Salvador has made a public request to the leader of Venezuela about wanting to swap prisoners, according to the President of El Salvador it is win-win situation, the need for the consent of the prisoner does not even exist in the mind of President of El Salvador.

 i)  To make this deportation possible the President of US and his administration had to revoke some for the legal provisions made with regard to illegal immigrants from Venezuela and those from other countries in Latin America. This was done immediately by Mr. Donald Trump upon taking office, which indicates the actions carried out by President Mr. Donald Trump had been planned some time before he even took office.

j)  The attack on Venezuelans is nothing personal, though it seems so with the Executive Order 14245 imposing Tariffs on countries that import Venezuelan oil passed on March 27, 2025. The tariff is  on countries that purchase oil directly or indirectly from Venezuela. It would be useful to recall US President’s animosity was earlier directed towards Mexicans and the need to build a wall.

k)   What is forgotten in this attention catching drama played to the media hype is the systematic process of surveillance and control put in place which is not only unconstitutional but will ensure the death of democracy in the United States. Even without all systems in place the President of United States is able use fear mongering as a strategy and silence his cabinet members who only say “Yes Master” and they seem to have given up their right to stand for rationality, rule of law, the constitution or even have the capacity to refuse to be accomplices to acts of crime.

l)    As per the Executive Order 14159 “Protecting the American people against Invasion”, under section 13, Recalcitrant Countries, there is direction for Secretary of State and Secretary of Homeland Security to take all appropriate steps to deport the alien under 8. U.S.C 1253 (d) and USC 243 (d), further states “(a) …ensuring diplomatic efforts and negotiations with foreign states include the foreign states acceptance of their nationals who are subject to removal from US and (b)Eliminate all documentary barriers, dilatory tactics, or other restrictions that prevent the prompt repatriation of aliens to any foreign state. Any failure or delay by a foreign state to verify the identity of a national of that state shall lead to sanction against the country and this shall also be considered regarding the issuance of any other sanctions that may be available to United States.

m)   Here through its Executive Order 14159, the President and his administration is indicating there is a war like situation, while there is no invading army in US, the President considers Venezuelan migrants to be the greatest threat to America and the presence of its illegal migrants an invasion by a foreign country.  There is a problem here, the US President forgets he is heading a country with $900 plus billion military industry and he is considering organised crime groups from Venezuela to be most imminent threat to America as they are invading the country.

 n)   It is unclear how for the US President Mr. Trump considers the Venezuelan immigrant, who makes for 2 percent of the total immigrant population in US, the greatest threat and that they are invading the US. Yes, there has been an increase in immigrants from 2010 to 2022 about 318 percent, but still, they make up only 2% of total immigrant population in US. How is this an invasion?

o) Data available for the Venezuelan population across the 50 states indicates the percentage of Venezuelan population as Zero percent in 13 States, in 24 States it is 0.1 percent and for the rest it varies between 0.2 and 0.3 percent (for the District of Columbia  it is 0.3), it is only in State of Florida the percent of Venezuelan population is 1.7 percent. (3) This is data for 2022 but the data could not have changed much as total Venezuelan population is low at being a mere 2% of the total immigrants in the US.

p)  My question to UN is, will the international community just watch while the President of US makes a mockery of US laws, international laws and the Rule of Law. Can the US President be given the power to have a free ride with lives of human beings and power to treat them worse than cattle? Can world leaders sit around, sip wine and discuss human trade and scope for linking it to work therapy for further profit?

We conceive it as a static state, where a world view palatable to u...

Living in the Margins

Molly Charles (1) Margin, a term familiar from tender age; notebooks with clear cut margins to delineate the main body of text, define it. The margins give it definite shape, a practice that continues into the virtual world. Among humans, it is these margins that give identity to the large majority we term normal. The often, porous boundaries offer a chance for individuals to slip through and slip back into either ‘normal’ or ‘marginal’ spaces. The decision to identify with marginal groups or positions can be a conscious one as with (gender identity, drug use), enforced as in (mental health, racial and caste based discrimination) and accidental for (drug use, stigmatized diseases). In certain instances, as with mental health, some individuals may find their being part of marginal groups a permanent reality, in most other instances individuals do move in and out of marginal groups, as a survival strategy to deal with marginalization. Even when physical spaces merge, with an emph...

The President of US stands accused of Genocidal intent?

Mr.President Trump, after hinting at his intent for days, now allegedly has stated loud and clear he would like to own another sovereign state, Palestine and wants to remove the entire population of Palestinians from there. For which he is bidding with nations in the middle east, almost creating a new form of slave trade.  The President of US standa accused of:  a) Clearly expressed Genocidal intent, expressed to entire world totally in free will, standing in a position of power as the greatest spender on Military industry.  2. As specified in Article two of genocide convention he state he wants to destroy an entire nation by erasing its existence and using organised crime methods for the same.  3.Totally against the UN charter Article 2 (4) for it "prohibits use of force (which could be physical and psychological) and calls on all Members to respect the Sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of other states.  4. Whether US and Israel want...
