United Nations whether set up as an aspiration for a better tomorrow or a limited framework to prevent another world war with powerful nations in control at UNSC or whether it is a smokescreen for US to conceptualize, facilitate, lead creation of norms through conventions and beyond, only to breakaway from ratification and indicate its domestic laws will work as its international frame and other nations will fall in line to this disparity in power sharing, but all these trend of thoughts may be merging to irrelevance, when tech governance take hold.
An Experimentation- the United States
Beyond all the chaos created for media and
dramatization of personal quirks of the U.S. President Trump, which at times are
clearly acts of terror or war crimes but portrayed as just acts, “dropping
bombs on unarmed fishermen miles away in international waters”, carried out in
a lighter vein. A clean visual hallucination of victory is presented to the
world, where the death of humans is discarded at Sea, cries of their families
silenced by the Sea, and status of Sovereignty of nations held high for what it
is in eyes of the US - a Farce! For SCOTUS, US Congress, EU, UNSC, UN members
are silent, pretending to be blindsided.
What is happening in the US may clearly be a
Tech experimentation, where dictatorial role of US President is strengthened
through trial and error, to be held high and embedded into the system of
governance. Towards which the powers of Judiciary and Congress are stripped and
trampled over first subtly and then overtly to erase faith in these
institutions, among the Americans.
This move is not specifically towards benefit
of the US President Trump, but rather President Trump is settings ways for tech
governance within the United States and for world stage informally and
formally. For tech governance one power center would be apt and comfortable,
this model of Tech based governance would fit in with the argument that humans
will be augmented to deliver most intelligent and apt solutions at speed while
being relevant. The only problem is for functional democracy; decentralization
of power is crucial. Decentralized approach would be highly problematic to
managed by an AI, for Governance is not case of “if statements” or
probabilities.
Issues with Tech based Governance
1. It will erode sovereignty of nations, for
what is considered the best solution by an augmented Human or AI would be
absent of understanding of human dynamics and value of sovereignty,
2. Nations would merge for military industry
goals or pharmaceutical industry goals. The sovereign reality that subtly
offers diversity in approach would be stripped away. When universal drug abuse
control norms were created, it did adversely impact traditional systems of
medicine and folk medicine. But the impact of drug laws on governance in its
totality was limited, here governance itself would change that could led to
diversity in medical care approaches disappearing in scale and at a faster
pace.
3. Recent National Defense Authorization Act
for Fiscal Year 2027, focuses on more participatory research and development
initiatives between US and Israel, field based participatory approach has been
a reality for both countries during conflict or war, the new approach would
mean a total synthesis in research, development, field testing and real action
in the field of action for both US and Israel.
The question is what it would mean with regard
to holding Israel accountable for genocide or future violation when military
super power is the direct actor. Wouldn’t this be increasing impunity of
Israel, if so, wouldn’t countries in region need to be cautious about offering
domestic law modification to address antisemitism?
Besides, how is it just that Israeli Jews carry
out a genocide, celebrate it, state they need more and demand they are not held
accountable, is not addressed instead antisemitism is considered the greatest
of all crimes in the region.
Why is there no sanction on Israel? If what
Israel did was done by any other country, the US and EU would have obliterated
that country? This is true meaning of Western Democracy!
4. Governance is not about a business model
seeking profit for shareholders. Governance is a live dynamic interactive task,
where the beneficiary of governance, the people, are also the basic raw
material, the informal basic structure, the actors that determine success or
failure and most of all it is an important process to ensure evolution of not
just of a nation but human species as well.
Evolution of human species does not happen
through augmentation with AI, for it needs active and participatory human
involvement and not observation and result download options. For the latter leads
to making human evolution a static reality or one on reduction/remission mode;
with AI reality evolving but it is set by default for static end, without
evolving independent human mind.
What the tech visionaries of a new species
through AI tend to overlook is AI evolution depends on human evolution. If
human evolution is ensured to diminish, through neural isolation, or lack of
stimulation, or lack of failure opportunity, or lack of competition, or lack of
hope through being irrelevant, humans will stop evolving.
Then comes the real test for tech dreamers, for
they have not thought through the AI journey. AI can only move within a frame,
now through anthropic tools it has been able to move across frames and
integrate to create something different, but this is not moving beyond frames.
In reality, it is just moving within frames of existing human knowledge without
human limitation. This cannot lead to human evolution or creation of a new
species.
Just one question to the great Tech world, who
decided fastest speed is best for humans? Who decided slow pace that
facilitates integration, churning and reintegration is not relevant for human
evolution? Who decided all business or industries needs continuous high-speed
results for better outcomes? Isn’t it possible high speed in computational
capability is relevant for certain space research and at the most for world
finance markets.
5. Against the evolving tech reality in
governance, and redefinition of American Democracy, unless the United Nations undertakes
a serious review about sovereignty for all big and small nations, the union of
nations would remain a picture-postcard reality.
Sovereignty for All or for None.
